Change MSDE database password


About changing database passwords

If you are using MSDE, you can change the password for your collaboration database from the Reset MSDE Password page. If you are using Microsoft SQL Server, you must use the SQL Server database administration tools to change the database password.

To change the database password for MSDE

  1. On the Server Administration page, click Reset MSDE Database password.

    Note   If SQL Server was already installed on your server computer when you installed Microsoft SharePoint, you may not see this option.

  2. In the New password box, type your new password.
  3. In the Confirm new password box, type the new password again.
  4. Click Submit.
