| Almost as long as there's been a World Wide Web, there's been blogging.
A
blog is kind of public
diary on the Internet. In the early days, these sites were called
Web Logs because, at first, they simply listed Web sites visited. Thanks
to the necessity of avoiding confusion with server log files, which are
also called Web Logs, the term was soon shortened to "blogs"
and they evolved from Web site lists to chronological journals with photographs.
Naturally, knitters took to blogging as quickly as they did to knitting
lists and newsgroups.
A few examples:
When Knitting was a Manly Art:
http://www.gaiser.org/knitblog/ Jerry's site includes wonderful pictures
of his works in progress.
Fiber Raven Soiree: http://www.nwkniterati.com/movabletype/blog/
Sheila's dog Sherlock tries to "free" a bobble from a work-in-progress.
Emma & Co.: http://www.emma.prettyposies.com/
Knitting tales and other fibre-related pursuits.
Handknitter:
http://www.handknitter.sarahpeasley.com/ Knitting instructor and consultant
Sarah Peasley's blog site.
Woolflowers: http://www.woolflowers.net/
Leigh finishes a sweater and makes a shopping list.
Little Stitches: http://www.edit.ne.jp/~minako/blogger/e/
Charming Minako, of Tokyo, knits tiny things and says "Busier my life goes, my creative urge comes stronger".
Many bloggers use the services of host companies while others have independent
URLs. You can find a number of resources at Weblogs Compendium.
