This is my first attempt at a "blog" so bear
with me. I have decided to start Fairly Honest Bob's Blog to coincide
with the start of 2011. Well, Here goes. Your comments are welcome and
if I choose, some of them will be published here. Write me at: fairlyhonestbob1@gmail.com

Couldn’t
resist writing a bit on 1-1-11. Ok…that’s out of my system, let’s
get on with it.
First
up is Mexico…does anyone in the media, other than some intern, give a
dump about Mexico and what’s going on in Acapulco? You better, because
the same kind of violence is headed right for the USA! This should be on
the front page of every newspaper in the nation if not the world! 31
people were killed in Acapulco in just four days…January 7 – 10! At
least 14 were beheaded! Oh well, let’s take a vacation and get some
sun in Acapulco…NOT!
Jews…it’s not often
that I comment on religions…but here is one that needs to commented
on. It’s another media-kept secret; Hate crimes against Jews were
nearly 38% of all Hate Crimes in New York state in 2009. And it you
think that’s astounding, in LA, it was 88%! A note here; according to
the Washington Post, only a small fraction of those hated “Hate
Crimes” were against Muslims! Maybe some believe that Jews were behind
the 9-11 attack…ya think?
This subject is a
goodie…hooray for good ‘ol Ford! I’m sure they didn’t mean to,
but they stole the stage at the Detroit Auto Show when they announced
they would hire 7,000 workers in 2011-12. If you are an automotive or
electrical engineer, you’ll get more than 10% of those jobs…crank up
the Model A and hit the road!
Last for today, Pet Peeve
No. 24: MicroSoft Corp. MS’s Ballmer is looking for “new blood to
head up the company”. Aren’t they getting enough of our blood as it
is? Now for the peeve…It’s that these geeks don’t support software
that they tell us we “must have” for more than five years. If Ford
or GM did that…well…’nuff said I think. I don’t mind them
introducing better, faster, cooler applications, but for us oldsters,
who have purchased so many programs and OS’s I’ve lost count, just
support them for at least 10 to 15 years! Then all of us old guys and
gals will probably be more interested in signing up for Medicare and
ordering hearing aids…not trying to get FrontPage, Image Composer and
other MS software to run on the latest OS!

& 9, 2011
I'll try to make this short as again there is so much stuff to write
about. Very revealing was the article about GM's CEO Dan Akerson in the
WSJ (Saturday) "I'm Not A Car Guy". It's a dumb statement for
sure, but somehow Mr. Akerson makes it work. He gets big points from me
for his take on Toyota's Prisus...his quote: "Prisus haybrid is a
Geek-Mobile...and I wouldn't be caught dead in one."...he's got
that right! However, he does need to
bridge the gap and bring us "car guys" into his camp.
Remember, GM started by some accounts in 1897...114 years ago! Last, a
missed opportunity in the article seems to be that there was no comparison or
even any comments about Ford...who didn't take a dimes worth of
bailout money from us tax-payers
while GM still owes us a big $45.3 Billion which translates to Uncle Sam
holding on to a 25% stake in the company.
Kudos to Star Parker on her comments about Kaleephorneeah's
(infamous) Henry Waxman...in the interest of time and space, you'll just
have to look her up on the net...hint (http://www.urbancure.org/subs.asp?b=1).
Shooting in Arizona...a terrible tragedy...and you've heard that from
nearly everyone. However, listening briefly to radio station KGO (San Francisco...where
else!) late Saturday night...the Christine Craft talk program...one
word: Condemnation! For an attorney, she should know better than
to introduce "suspicion" while the dead bodies are still warm,
that the Tea Party had some involvement these
shootings. That kind of drivel is so out of line, KGO should send
Christine back to Salinas where her puke-speak can't really be heard by
anyone. A little bit more...the Stupid award goes to Sarah Palin
for putting a target on Giffords' Representative seat...not too kool! The
Left and their media puppies have neatly tied the Republican party and
the Tea Party citizens together...now comes the execution...I can hear
the train 'a comin!
The whole incident and all the happenings around it is
terrible...both personally and politically. But this could be a turning
point that gets Yomama term number two. I do think at this time, that
considering the above web site foopah, Palin may be done as a serious
Presidential candidate...if she ever was one. Where is Bobby Jindle when
we need him most?
And on top of that, Republicans in the HoR, postponed all business
next week when the vote on defrocking YomamaCare was to take place...don't think
this is a smart move as it now gives Yomama the upper hand through a
pre-emptive strike with his State-Of-The-Union message scheduled for
January 13th. Yomama, despite the Arizona tragedy and anything else for
that matter, won't squander this opportunity to take a step closer to victory in
2011.
Next to last. Seems to me that 2011 is being set up to be the
"Lost Year". I hear and read many comments about the
presidential election of 2012...the economy will bloom in 2012...the
stock market will normalize by 2012...More jobs will be created in 2012
and so on. Should we just pull the
covers over our heads and let 2011 slide on by? I don't think so. 2011
should go down in history as the "Year of the Work Horse."
Last at last for Sunday; in December and with little media attention
or reporting, Hugo
Chavez, the wannabe dictator of Venezuela, started seizing land owned by
private citizens in that country...can you say Julius Caesar?

There is so
much crap out there today (Friday), I just don’t know where to start!
I guess the best place is with one of the best explanations I’ve read
yet about the Cash For Clunkers program…or should I say…government waste…remember it last summer? Friday’s gem was in
the WSJ…an article by Victor Dial, Ford’s top executive in Europe
appears on page 11A. Within his piece, Mr. Dial states twice that this
type of program is nothing more than marketing exercise and it’s not
new. It has been done again and again in Europe…so much so that
European car buys are badly addicted to their versions of Cash For
Clunkers, it may just devastate the struggling industry across the pond.
It’s almost funny when he states that “That the car industry, labor
unions, and the environmentalists were all winners…the losers were the
taxpayers!” You’ll recall that there was a bit more grumbling here,
but not much. A good read and a tip of the hat to Mr. Dial.
This little
goodie was heard on the Bill Bennett radio program early Friday
morning…Rick Santorum filling in…he’s better than Bill anyway was
interviewing Tracy Byrnes from FOX Business. As best I can recall, Tracy
stated that ADP’s estimate of the unemployment numbers released today,
were so far off, they weren’t even in the ball park. Hey, ADP
(Automatic Data Processing, Inc.) are the people in the employment
business for crap sakes…can anyone say Accounting 101?
Ah…now
I come to one of my bigger pet peeves…NAFTA…thank you Bush 41 and
Klinkton…the part that galls me pretty good is the part that allows
Mexican 18-wheelers to roll down our highways at overloaded weights
of more than 100,000-lbs. Last year, Yomama killed the test that
was allowing the Mexicans to run their rigs into the good ‘ol US of A
up to 50 miles from the border. Now, all of a sudden due mostly to
pressure from south of the border via punitive tariffs to the tune of
$2B on US goods imported into our drug-riddled neighboring country,
Yomama has directed Transportation Secretary LaHood to reopen talks with
the “Pancho Villa” inspired country that eventually will lead to
rolling their huge , uninspected rigs down our (mostly) nicely paved
roads. Mexicans always do it for less…can anyone say…job loss!

Well, here I am back for the second shot. Missed
yesterday due to lots of "to dos". The celebrated 112th
Congress was sworn in for it’s two year run with the bawling John
Boehner as the new Speaker of the House. Thank Gawd. Ding dong…the
witch is…finally…dead…or at least wounded!
I enjoyed (NOT) some of the comments by some
"celebrities". And boy, do I hate the word
"celebrity"! Most people on television or any media for that
matter are not celebrities! To me celebrity means someone who is better
than the rest of us "folks" and there is another word that
grates me the wrong way. One of the definitions of "folks" is
people of the land, the commoners; not of the elite. Bill O’Reilly
uses "folks" quite a bit on his TV program and that has caused
me to lessen my frequency of watching his program.
Anyway, on with my gripe for today about celebrity
comments about John Boehner. Dave Letterman, who is not a very good
comedian…I remember when he thought throwing TV’s out of second
story windows was funny…and yeah, I AM THAT old! Letterman on
Thursday, while interviewing NBC’s Brian Williams (http://www.youtube.com/
watch?v=ePlXsjvu9Bs) said …"[Boehner]
cries like he’s on drugs" and then laughs loudly when Williams
complains about Dave’s disrespect for the Speaker of the House. And
Letternut still can’t reign himself in goes on to say "…I’m
suggesting he [Boener] needs some sort of counseling." Boy oh boy,
even though it was Letternut’s attempt at a joke, I dare say it was
received as something less than that. Hey Dave, on a scale of 1 to 10,
that line of humor was a –5…that’s a minus five!!!
Comedian Dennis Miller on the
Bill O’Reilly show on Wednesday (http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/oreilly/
transcript/miller-reflects-039the-
governator039) described Nancy Pelosi as "…Bad
to the bone" and "She’s a bad dame. And you know what? She
is a hack." Again, not sure if his comments are terribly funny, but
unlike Letternut, it’s not a personal attack and may actually even
bear some truth. Dennis goes on to say "…She has no conscience.
She'll look you right in the eye and, guess what? You'll blink
first." I might ask here, is she capable of blinking ever?
OK. It’s time for some predictions: 1) I really don’t
think this (112th) Congress is going to be able to repeal
YomamaCare. If extremely lucky, they may be able to slow down some parts
of it from taking effect as scheduled. No matter what anyone believes,
the Prez still has the most power in the world and will just veto
anything sent to him that he doesn’t like. This man has an agenda like
no other U.S. President in history. He is more like a strongman climbing
the ladder to a full dictatorship. Does the name Ahmadinejad or Chavez
mean anything. Just the other day, the
congress in Venezuela lost more of it’s power to govern by
Presidential decree from Hugo Chavez. Don’t look over your shoulders
now, but…
